THE BRIEF:
Fountainhead Ltd to collaborate with the client’s architects and main contractor to create a 100ft vertical fountain rising from an existing artificial rock island at the centre of a lake.
The fountain design and installation to incorporate the pump and other mechanical elements into existing lakebed tunnels and structures. The fountain to be illuminated and the height of the jet to be controlled remotely by smartphone.
THE CHALLENGE:
Access and installation could obviously only be over or under water which required the use of boats, divers and pontoons at different stages. At one point an innovative amphibious motorised floating platform with crane, provided by Falmouth based company WorkFloat, was used to lift the pumping equipment into position.
